In March 2014 the Department for Education published the revised version of the EYFS, which was effective from September 2014. We refer to this as our 'bible'. We are passionate about this document and always love an opportunity to share it with parents who wish to know more so please ask. There are two parts to the document. 1. The learning and Development section which we talk to parents about constantly in planning, observing and assessing children. There are seven areas of learning we ensure are promoted in everything we do; Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Communication and Language, Physical Development, Literacy, Understanding the World, Mathematics, Expressive Arts and Design. We are also keen to explain the Characteristics of Effective Learning which is fantastic way of understanding how children learn. 2. The Welfare Requirements which ensure we maintain the highest standards in the running of the nursery. Headings include Child Protection, Suitable People,Staff qualifications, training, support and skills, Key Person, Staff:Child ratios, Health, Managing behaviour, Safety and suitability of premises, environment and equipment, Special educational needs, Information and records.
